Dagmara Świtacz: Prawdziwa pasja na pewno jest czymś, co zajmuje człowiekowi więcej niż 80% dnia. Jest czymś, co posiada dwie płaszczyzny. Z jednej strony wymaga dużego wysiłku i wytrwałości, z drugiej jest darem, który ma się w sobie, a tym samym staje się motorem napędzającym nasze działania. Pasja to coś, co wypełnia całe życie człowieka.
A czy uważa Pani, że trzeba ten dar w pewien sposób pielęgnować w sobie?
Oczywiście. Pasja to jest przede wszystkim chęć zrobienia czegoś. Żeby coś zrobić, trzeba nad tym pracować. Czasami te wszystkie trudy i potknięcia nas motywują, czasem wpływają na nas destrukcyjnie. Myślę jednak, że jeśli ktoś ma pasję, to się tak szybko nie poddaje i zachowuje ją do końca życia.
Pani miłością jest muzyka. Dlaczego akurat ta dziedzina sztuki?
Myślę, że muzyka wypełniała moje życie od wczesnego dzieciństwa. Zaraziłam się nią od braci. Rodzice nie byli muzykami i nie słuchali muzyki klasycznej, ale akceptowali moje wybory. Za to moi bracia chodzili do szkoły muzycznej, zajmowali się muzyką, opowiadali mi o niej i tak przeszło to na mnie. A dlaczego akurat klasyka? Z biegiem lat musiałam sprecyzować swoje zainteresowania i padło na śpiew klasyczny, i to w dodatku na muzykę dawną, chociaż także nie stronię od muzyki XX wieku.
Wspomniała Pani o swoim rodzeństwie. Czy była między wami rywalizacja na gruncie zawodowym? Zawsze wsparcie i pomoc. Zawsze chcieliśmy robić coś wspólnego, mieć wspólny zespół, tworzyć wspólną muzykę. Miedzy nami nie było rywalizacji również ze względu na to, że zajmowaliśmy się różnymi rzeczami: brat grał na gitarze, drugi na flecie, a ja śpiewałam.
Czy oprócz rodzeństwa ktoś jeszcze miał wpływ na muzyczne wybory Dagmary Świtacz? Wielu artystów mówi o swoim wzorze czy mentorze.
Jest taka artystka. Bracia przywieźli mi kiedyś z Wiednia płytę znakomitej czarnoskórej śpiewaczki Kathleen Battle. Usłyszałam jej głos i pomyślałam, że to jest to, co chciałabym robić. Bardzo podobała mi się czystość w jej głosie… i to jej dzwoneczkowe brzmienie. Wydaje mi się, że ona w jakiś sposób mnie uformowała i była moim wzorem. Oprócz tego w szkole muzycznej miałam okazję poznać śpiewaczkę Henrykę Januszewską, która była moją nauczycielką. Cały czas utrzymuję z nią kontakt. Zawsze do niej wracam i proszę ją o pomoc.
Z kim chciałaby Pani współpracować w przyszłości?
Bardzo chciałabym zaśpiewać z dwoma dyrygentami: Johnem Eliotem Gardinerem, angielskim dyrygentem, świetnym interpretatorem muzyki barokowej i Filipem Herreweghe. Ale nie mam takiego parcia na współpracę z konkretną osobą. Cieszę się z każdego dobrego koncertu z dobrym muzykiem, który mnie inspiruje.
Mówi się, że książka ma dwóch autorów: pisarza i czytelnika. Czy podobnie jest z muzyką?
W muzyce są nie dwie, ale trzy takie osoby: twórca, wykonawca i słuchacz. Te trzy czynniki czasem nie do końca idą ze sobą w parze. To, co kompozytor skomponuje, nie zawsze może się wykonawcom podobać. Niekiedy mamy takie zlecenie, które nie do końca nas przekonuje. Nasze serce bije w innym kierunku, ale musimy to zrobić ze względu na profesjonalizm. To czasami nie przekonuje również słuchacza. Muzyk musi więc kierować się niesamowitym instynktem, musi wejść w siebie i robić to, co naprawdę kocha. Tylko wtedy może być autentyczny dla odbiorcy. Muzyka jest przede wszystkim bardziej złożona niż literatura, w której nie ma ingerencji osoby trzeciej w kontakcie czytelnika z pisarzem. Widzę jednak pewne podobieństwo. I w muzyce, i w literaturze odbiorca może interpretować dany utwór na różne sposoby... Myślę, że czytelnik jest bardziej podobny do osoby, która wykonuje muzykę.
Jak się Pani przygotowuje do występu?
Formę muszę zachowywać przez cały czas. Ćwiczę codziennie, nawet jeśli nie mam koncertu. Staram się również przygotować pod względem merytorycznym. Za niedługo na przykład nagrywam pieśni Karola Szymanowskiego. Będzie to 12 Pieśni Kurpiowskich i 5 „Słopiewni” do słów Juliana Tuwima. Staram się więc czytać książki o kompozytorze. Sprawdzam, co Szymanowski lubił, jak chciał, żeby jego muzyka była wykonywana. Później uczę się tekstu muzycznego. Przyswajam nuty. Następnie jest praca z pianistą i szereg prób. Ważna jest również moja interpretacja pieśni.
Czy myśli Pani, że w obecnym świecie jest miejsce na muzykę klasyczną?
Myślę, że muzyka klasyczna zawsze była muzyką niszową i potrzebowała jakiegoś wsparcia czy mecenatu. Wystarczy sięgnąć do historii. Tak jest i dzisiaj. Muzyk w dzisiejszych czasach musi być bardzo elastyczny, bo w wielu wypadkach ludzie chcą muzyki klasycznej, ale odpowiednio podanej, ładnie oprawionej i łatwej do słuchania. Często dla mnie to troszeczkę graniczy z kiczem, ale niestety tak jest wszędzie, w muzyce jazzowej czy klasycznej. Ja idę troszeczkę pod prąd, bo nie dość, że uparłam się akurat na muzykę klasyczną, to wybrałam trudną – XX wieku i barokową – a ona naprawdę sięga do małej rzeszy odbiorców. Nie mogłabym jednak robić czegoś innego. Nie przekonywałoby mnie to. Uważam, że nie można się poddawać. Dobrze wykonana muzyka klasyczna zawsze znajdzie odbiorcę, w postaci wrażliwego człowieka.
Jakie ma Pani inne zainteresowania oprócz muzyki?
Moją drugą pasją od zawsze była jazda konna, ale od niedawna zajęłam się nią praktycznie. To coś niesamowitego. Chociaż muszę przyznać, że zajmuje mi to sporo czasu. W stadninie odpoczywam, bo muzyka wykonywana zawodowo czasem bywa trudna. Z muzyką jest trochę jak z małżeństwem. Obok wielkiej miłości zdarzają się gorsze chwile. Są okresy, kiedy człowiek się załamuje, kiedy wiecznie mu coś nie wychodzi i mozolnie idzie się po grząskim gruncie. Jednak, jak już się dojdzie do jakiegoś punktu, to czuje się satysfakcję, która mobilizuje do kolejnego podejścia. Pasja nie jest do końca sprawą łatwą. Mało jest teraz ludzi wytrwałych. Widzę to czasem po moich uczniach, którzy chcą coś osiągnąć, ale jak najmniejszym kosztem. Tak się nie da. Trzeba iść na całość. Nie da się robić czegoś na pół gwizdka.
Mówiła Pani o swoich uczniach, więc na koniec poproszę o jakąś radę dla przyszłych muzyków.
Rada jest jedna. Jeśli ktoś naprawdę chce to robić, to musi być bardzo wytrwałym, konsekwentnym i systematycznym. Jeżeli chce osiągnąć sukces, musi to robić na całego.
